Henrikh Mkhitaryan says he is in awe of new Arsenal teammate Mesut Ozil and believes there isn’t a player in the world who is as good in his position.

The Armenian moved to the Emirates from Manchester United in a straight swap for Alexis Sanchez and recorded a hat-trick of assists against Everton, though was hauled off after an hour in Saturday’s north London derby defeat to Spurs.

Mkhitaryan says he is looking forward to getting fully up to speed with both Ozil and fellow January signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and was full of praise for the German maestro.

Asked about how much he’s looking forward to playing with Ozil, he told Arsenal Player: ‘Yes of course, not only us three but as well the players that are playing next to us.

‘They are having a big impact on the team’s success and the playing style of Arsenal and of course we are trying to do the best.

‘Everyone knows that Mesut is one of the best players in the world.

‘It’s only happiness and joy to play next to him because he understands very well the football game, he has great vision, he has amazing technique and he’s the best in his position.’

Only Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne has created more chances in the Premier League this season than Ozil, though the Gunners are running out of players to convert those chances.

Alexandre Lacazette underwent surgery on a knee injury on Tuesday and is out for up to six weeks, leaving Danny Welbeck as the only fit striker in the squad for the Europa League as Aubameyang is ineligible.
