Griezmann, 26, has long been linked with a big-money move to United and looked set to complete a deal in the summer but Atletico Madrid’s transfer ban convinced the forward to remain in the Spanish capital.
The French attacker recently admitted joining the Red Devils was a ‘possibility’ and it’s understood the Premier League giants are ready to break the bank for their target.
L’Equipe claim Griezmann is being lined up to take Mkhitaryan’s spot – behind the centre-forward – in Jose Mourinho’s starting XI ahead to the 2018/19 campaign.
Mkhitaryan had a barnstorming start to the season, registering five assists in his opening five appearances, but has struggled for form in recent weeks.
‘In June, I extended my contract. I’m linked to the club until 2022,’ Griezmann wrote in a new biography.
‘Although, I might be missing out on titles, I have everything here to be happy but that does not mean to say I won’t go one day.
‘I haven’t made that decision. It all depends on various factors.
‘I have nothing against England except for the weather. Manchester United is a possibility.’
