Thiago Silva sent a despondent message to Paris Saint-Germain fans as he was dropped for the side’s clash with Real Madrid.
Presnel Kimpembe has replaced Silva in PSG’s starting XI in a bold statement from Unai Emery heading into the Champions League round of 16 match.
Silva was reportedly ‘incredibly surprised’ when he was informed that he would be starting on the bench at the Bernabeu in the lead-up to the enticing European tie.
French youngster Kimpembe started PSG’s 4-0 victory over Barcelona last season but was replaced with Silva for the second leg which the Ligue 1 club famously lost 6-1.
‘I hope that God will help me to improve,’ Silva posted on Instagram ahead of Wednesday night’s clash.
Kimpembe – Silva’s replacement – came through the ranks at AS Eragny before joining PSG’s academy in 2005.
Silva was an unused substitute as PSG earned a 1-0 victory over Toulouse in Ligue 1 at the weekend.
