He shot to fame as the ridiculously adorable Ray Boyd kid in 1996 film Jerry Maguire, before playing the child in Stuart Little, but actor Jonathan Lipnicki is VERY grown up now – and he’s looking for love.
Lipnicki, now aged 27, is appearing on season 4 of Celebs Go Dating and hoping to find a partner with the help of Lady Nadia Essex and Eden Blackman.
What is Jonathan famous for?
But Jonathan was once a household name. In the 1990s he starred in such blockbuster hits as Jerry Maguire, Dr. Dolittle, Stuart Little and The Little Vampire.
He’s not so little now, though.
The price of fame
Lipnicki recently opened up about his battle with depression.
He says his issues came from the fact that he was bullied at school for his success as a young actor in films like Stuart Little and Jerry Maguire.
He told TooFab : “I’ve been in treatment for a very long time because I had a very serious problem with anxiety and depression. I felt like I didn’t know how my life was going to end up. It was the lowest point of my life.”
In a separate Instagram post, he said: “As a kid/teen I was made fun of relentlessly by some people who are now even my friends on FB.
“I was told I was a has-been and would never book a job again. I was made to feel like garbage every day of middle school to the point where I had a panic attack every night before school, because I wondered how I wondered how I would get through the next day.”
He’s all grown up now and don’t you forget it
Jonathan has made more films as an adult than he did as a child, showing up those bullies.
In 2015 the actor shared a video message to his on-screen dad Tom Cruise for Father’s Day.
Gone was the innocent walking-encyclopedia he played in the hit movie, to be replaced by a cheerful, if VERY sweary, young man.
“I’m here to thank you Jerry Maguire,” he says sarcastically in the clip, “from drunkenly brooding on my mum’s couch having a nervous breakdown, to dropping completely unnecessary F-bombs when I wanted to go to the zoo.
“Sure you weren’t my real dad, but you loved me anyway. So much so that you hastily married my mum all because of my overwhelming cuteness.
Veering off topic somewhat, he then complains in a HUGE f-bomb rant about never being able to drop his younger self.
“Everybody still thinks of me as the cute kid from Jerry Maguire,” he says.
“Never mind that I’m a talented, classically trained adult actor capable of playing a wide variety of roles.”
However it gets worse as he complains about people saying “show me the money” to him when they see him, and shouts: “That’s not even my f***ing line, you f***ing f***s!”
Not so cute now, then? Let’s see what the ladies make of him…
