FIFA release 55-man shortlist for FIFPro World XI including seven Liverpool stars


FIFA have released their 55-man shortlist for a spot in the FIFPro World XI for 2019, with Liverpool and Manchester City well represented.

Seven members of Jurgen Klopp’s European champions have made the cut, with goalkeeper Alisson Becker, defenders Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold and forwards Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah on the list.

Premier League winners Manchester City can boast eight players from Pep Guardiola’s domestic treble winning squad, namely goalkeeper Ederson, new boy Joao Cancelo, defenders Aymeric Laporte and Kyle Walker, midfield stars Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva, and forwards Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling.

Sterling and Aguero both feature in the list

Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea also have representatives in the list, which is topped by 11 players from Barcelona and nine from Real Madrid.
