Neymar Jr has been branded a cheat and unprofessional by two legends of the game.

The Brazilian superstar attracts as many headlines for his play acting and party lifestyle as for his performances for Paris Saint-Germain.

And former Spain and Real Madrid coach Vicente Del Bosque said: “He is a difficult boy. For me, he is not a good example.

“He is excellent as a player. If you ask me for my world top five, he is definitely on the list.

“But on the pitch, he tries to cheat, he play acts a lot. And there is also the way he left Barcelona.”

Neymar forced his way out of the Catalan giants for a world record fee of £199m in 2017 and has been repeatedly linked with a return by his former team-mates at the Camp Nou.

Del Bosque has branded Neymar a cheat

But Del Bosque told Mundo Deportivo: “It is the clubs who must decide who to sign or not. We must not pay attention to what the players say.”

Zico was voted South American Player of the Year three times but believes current Brazilian star Neymar needs to be “more professional”.

The PSG star and his team-mates were criticised by coach Thomas Tuchel for celebrating his 28th birthday in February just 48 hours before a Ligue 1 match.

Neymar, who was “injured” the previous day, has now missed the game closest to his birthday for each of the last three seasons.

“I really like Ney, he has an amazing style of play,” said Zico, a star of three World Cups. “But he needs to be more professional like Ronaldo and Messi, who live for football. Ney has too many thoughts that distract him.

“I spoke to him recently and I asked him to be more professional. He is now 28 and PSG have a great team and they can win the Champions League.

“It will depend on his quality throughout the tournament, not just in one match.”
