Paul Pogba’s brother lifts the lid on Man Utd midfielder’s talks with Lionel Messi

Paul Pogba's brother lifts the lid on Man Utd midfielder's talks with Lionel Messi

Paul Pogba’s brother has revealed that the Man Utd midfielder has discussed moving to Spain with Lionel Messi .

The 26-year-old announced earlier in the summer he was seeking a new challenge, and Messi’s Barcelona were linked with Pogba’s signature.

But the Frenchman has not spoken to Sergio Ramos about a potential switch to Real Madrid .

Mathias Pogba was speaking to El Chiringuito TV when he said: “I know he’s spoken with a few players, but not Ramos.

“Who? Oh, Messi. Sometimes, not always. Zlatan [Ibrahimovic]. [Antoine] Griezmann, because of the national team.”

That said, Real Madrid have still found ways to contact the World Cup winner.

Mathias added: “I don’t know about anyone from Real Madrid. Oh, [Raphael] Varane, yes, and yes, with [Zinedine] Zidane, yes.”

Pogba has made no secret of his desire to forge a move to one of Spain’s footballing giants.

His agent Mino Raiola told the Times in July: “Everyone knows the willingness of Paul to move on. We are in the process of that. Everyone knows what the feelings of Paul are.”

However United managed to keep hold of their talisman and have since approached Raiola about extending Pogba’s contract at Old Trafford.

But Mathias said last week: “Paul knows that he cannot leave Manchester United so he’s going to focus on this season.”

Pogba has been out of action this past week after withdrawing from international duty with injury.

He limped out of United’s draw with Southampton and is now a doubt for this weekend’s clash with Leicester .

Meanwhile Pogba’s United teammate Daniel James continued his rich vein of goalscoring form with another fine strike for Wales.

James netted in his country’s friendly with Belarus on Monday by cutting in from the left-hand side before curling a shot into the far corner.

The 20-year-old has now scored four goals in his last six appearances for club and country.
